It is similar to click-based RPG games that run on the browser back in the day, except players are rewarded with SKILL — in-game tokens that can be sold on the market for real-life money.
In CryptoBlades, players battle and level up their characters and craft weapons to make your team more powerful.
Being a blockchain-based game, there are a lot of things you need to setup first before you can start playing the game.
Here is a quick guide on how to get started with CryptoBlades!
What you need to start playing CryptoBlades
To start playing CryptoBlades, you will need:
- BNB tokens
- SKILL tokens
- a MetaMask wallet
- a Binance account
SKILL is the in-game token and native currency of the CryptoBlades world. They are used to recruit characters for your team and to obtain weapons.
BNB will be used to purchase SKILL and to pay for transaction fees in CryptoBlades. BNB can be bought from a lot of different places but the most obvious option would be from Binance, either using your credit card or trading it with another cryptocurrency in the exchange.
MetaMask is a cryptocurrency wallet used to store your BNB and SKILL. MetaMask is compatible with the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) which is the blockchain network that CryptoBlades runs on.
The next section below is a step-by-step guide on how to get started with your CryptoBlades journey.
How to Start Playing CryptoBlades
Here are the steps on how to start playing CryptoBlades:
The first thing you need to do is setup a MetaMask wallet.
Install the MetaMask app for your device and setup a new wallet if you don’t have one already.
MetaMask is connected to the Ethereum Mainnet by default. But CryptoBlades runs on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
Clicking on “Configure MetaMask” in the CryptoBlades app homepage will automatically add the configuration for Binance Smart Chain and SKILL tokens to MetaMask.
Once you’ve finished setting up your MetaMask wallet, it is now ready to take BNB tokens which will be used later to buy SKILL.
2. Check how much SKILL is needed to recruit a character

You will need SKILL to purchase your first CryptoBlades character.
You can go to the CryptoBlades homepage to check how much SKILL you need to purchase a character and how much BNB you will need for your first few battles.
You can start playing with just one character, or you can max out your team by buying four characters.
Aside from that, you can also spend a few more SKILL to obtain weapons by forging them at the blacksmith.
You can check the price of weapons through the “Forge” button in the Blacksmith tab.
3. Buy BNB tokens from Binance
Now that you have a MetaMask wallet setup and you have an idea how much SKILL you’ll be needing, it’s time to get some BNB tokens.
You’ll need to spend some BNB for transaction fees and to buy SKILL tokens, the native currency of the game.
You can purchase BNB tokens through the cryptocurrency exchanges such as Binance.
Creating a Binance account is very easy. You can use this link to register for an account.
Once you’ve bought enough BNB tokens, withdraw them from your Binance account and transfer them to your MetaMask wallet.
Again, on MetaMask, make sure that you’re connected to the Binance Smart Chain Mainnet, then copy your wallet address.
Use this address when withdrawing your BNB tokens from Binance.

5. Buy SKILL tokens via ApeSwap
Once you receive the BNB tokens on your MetaMask wallet, it’s time to swap them for some SKILL!
Go to ApeSwap using this link and connect your MetaMask wallet by clicking the “Connect to a wallet” button on the top right.
Swap your BNB tokens for SKILL. Once done, your SKILL balance should reflect on your MetaMask wallet.
Note that you will need to use some BNB as transaction fees for your first few battles, so make sure to leave around 0.05 to 0.1 BNB in your wallet.
6. Recruit your first character and forge new weapons
You are now ready to recruit your first character with your SKILL! Just go to the Plaza to obtain your first character and weapon.
You will get a starter character with a random element and a 1-star weapon.
You are now ready to battle! Just go to the “Combat” tab and choose your initial character and weapon to start fighting enemies.

Tips for Starting Out as a New Player
To increase your winrate and maximize your profits, your character and weapon should ideally be of the same element.
If your starting character and weapon have different elements, they may not synergize well with each other and you’ll be at a disadvantage.
Depending on the stats of your initial character and weapon, you can either look for a weapon with the same element as your character, or a new character with the same element as your weapon.
If you have more SKILL, you may spend it to obtain a new random character at the Plaza, or forge a new random weapon at the Blacksmith.
However, for starting players, we recommend spending your SKILL at the marketplace so you can choose the character/weapon’s element.
Also, a common tip for newbies is to obtain four characters of the same element as your weapon.

If you have even more SKILL for your initial capital, you can also get characters that are already leveled.
This will give you a huge boost at the start because gaining experience to level up characters will take time.
