How to Play Among Us with Friends (Online/Local)

Among Us is a popular multiplayer game where players guess who the Impostor is in a team of Crewmates trying to save a ship.

Although Among Us can be played with a bunch of strangers on the internet, nothing beats playing a game of betrayal and trust than playing it with a group of friends!

Here’s a quick guide on how to play Among Us with your friends. A word of warning though—this game may destroy friendships!

How to Play with Friends Online in Among Us

1. In Main Menu, click “Online” and “Create Game”

First, the Host needs to create a game for other players to join.

Go to Online, then click Create Game on the “Host” section.

Also, you will need to be on the same server as your friends in order to join each other’s games. You may switch servers by clicking on the icon on the bottom-right.

Being in a server nearest to your current location will make the gameplay smoother and prevent network issues.

2. Select a map and customize the game settings

In the next screen, the Host can choose the game map, number of impostors, chat language, and max number of players allowed in the room.

The Host may still change these settings inside the lobby. Here’s a quick guide on how to edit the game settings in Among Us.

Once the room is created, you’ll see a four-letter code in the bottom of the screen. Copy this code and share it with your friends.

4. Other players can now join by entering the code

To join the Host’s room, the other players must go to “Online”, click “Enter Code” and type the four-letter room code. Once successful, you should be in the lobby with the other players.

Sometimes, the game servers may be a little unstable, so just be patient and keep trying again and again.

If many players are having problems joining, try letting another player host the game.

At this point, you may now start the game if there are at least four players in the lobby!

5. Set the room to public to let random players join

If you need more players in the room, you can set the room’s visibility to “Public” so that other random players in the server can join the game.

Just click the “Private” button on the lower left to switch it to “Public.”

Once it shows a green switch with “Public,” other players will see your room in Public > Find Game and be able to join.

The more the merrier!

Can mobile players play with PC players in Among Us?

Yes! Among Us supports cross-platform gameplay, so mobile players can play with PC players using the same method above.

Crossplay is supported for both online and local gameplay.

Among Us is playable in iOS, Android, and PC/Mac.

How to play local with friends in Among Us

If you want to play with friends locally, you need to be on the same local WiFi network.

Then, just go to “Local” in the Main Menu.
