Everyone probably agrees—playing as the Impostor is without a doubt one of the best moments of the game!
In Among Us, players are assigned one of either two roles at random—a Crewmate or an Impostor.
All players have an equal chance of becoming an Impostor, which means a 10% chance in a 10-player game, for example.
However, there is a way to play as an Impostor anytime in a Freeplay mode where you can practice your sneaky sabotaging skills!

How to be the Impostor in Among Us
Here’s a quick guide on how to practice the Impostor role through a singleplayer practice mode.
1. Select Freeplay from the Main Menu
You may choose between the three maps: The Skeld, Mira HQ or Polus.
2. Go to the computer and click “Customize”
The computer can be found nearby your spawn point. It’s usually near the emergency button.
3. Click the red “Be_Impostor.exe” icon
This will turn you into an Impostor! You may now use Sabotage abilities, kill a crewmate, or hide in Vents.
The Freeplay game mode is a singleplayer practice mode where you can learn the mechanics of the game.
There will also be dummy Crewmates inside the map so you can practice how to kill other players.
If you want to turn back into a Crewmate, just simply open the computer again and uncheck the Be_Impostor.exe icon.
How to have multiple Impostors in a game
Many players don’t know this, but you can actually have more than one Impostors in a game!
To increase the chances of playing as an Impostor, we highly recommend adding more Impostors by changing the game’s settings.
You can do this through the computer in the lobby. Here’s a quick guide we made on how to do change the game settings in Among Us!
If there are more than one Impostors in the game, the Crewmates will have to deduce and kick out all of them!
Once an Impostor dies, he will turn into a ghost spectator (similar to a dead Crewmate). However, dead Impostors can still perform Sabotages.
You should definitely try out playing with several Impostors, especially when playing with friends—it’ll result to more interesting (and longer) games, plus everyone will get the chance to play as Impostor more often!
